Clean air, made effortless.
Puraclenz began with a simple conviction: every breath should feel fresh and worry-free. By re-engineering photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) technology, originally developed for the International Space Station, we created an active ionization solution designed for today’s homes and businesses.
Our Mission
To make truly clean indoor air and surfaces accessible to everyone through science-driven innovation that is both effective and affordable.
How It All Started
When a close friend of our co-founder Wendell Minnick passed away from a hospital-acquired infection, Wendell and Chris Dooley set out to reinvent PCO so it could operate continuously without generating ozone, VOC by-products, or ultrafine particles. Their search led to UVAIRx, a Colorado company experimenting with advanced PCO. Together with inventor Jerrod Keith, they perfected a next-generation reaction core that meets the stringent UL 2998 ozone-free standard. In 2020, Puraclenz was born.
What Makes Us Different
Reinvented PCO
Certified ozone-free and verified to create no VOC by-products or ultrafine particles.
Space-proven science
Adapted from ISS air-scrubbing technology, our active ions work continuously in occupied spaces.
Whole-home coverage
Ions travel wherever air flows, reaching areas passive filters miss.
Designed for people's budgets
Whisper-quiet, energy-efficient, independently validated, and priced competitively.
Our Leadership Team
Chris Dooley
Co-Founder, CEO & Chairman
Chris directs operations, product development, marketing, and manufacturing while serving on the Board. An entrepreneur and senior executive with 25 years in smart-device and consumer-product markets, he has launched 80-plus products across Product Spring, Online Devices, and iRobot. Chris ran U.S. sales and marketing for the original Roomba launch, then built iRobot’s distribution network in Europe, Asia, and Canada. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University and an MBA from New York University.
Scott Magill
Chief Financial Officer
A founding investor in Puraclenz, Scott became CFO in January 2023 and also serves as Board Director and Corporate Secretary. A CPA with an MBA from the University of Chicago, he brings 40 years of financial, operational, and technology expertise spanning Deloitte, Citibank, and litigation powerhouse Wilkinson Stekloff LLP. Scott’s background in audit, banking, and consulting underpins Puraclenz’s capital strategy, compliance, and data-driven decision making.
Harry Schulman
Chief Revenue Officer
Harry guides sales growth and channel strategy after a career leading iconic household-brand portfolios. As Chairman, President, and CEO of Applica Inc., he helped expand Black & Decker small appliances, Windmere personal-care lines, and LitterMaid into a nearly $1 billion business before orchestrating its 2007 sale to Spectrum Brands. Post-Applica, Harry has revitalized multiple consumer ventures, including the relaunch of the Ronco brand—returning it to profitability through product innovation and omnichannel marketing.
Wendell Minnick
Co-Founder & Chairman Emeritus
Wendell co-manages operations and marketing alongside Chris Dooley while leading investor relations and strategic sales; he also sits on the Board. Over a 30-year career, he has founded, financed, and guided early-stage ventures in energy tech, nanomaterials, software systems, and consumer products, raising more than $500 million in equity capital. His work includes commercializing advanced ceramic and nano-composite materials for military and industrial use. Wendell’s pre-seed funding of UVAIRx catalyzed the breakthroughs in photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) that underlie Puraclenz’s patents. He holds a B.A. in Business from Principia College and completed MBA studies in International Economics at NYU and the London School of Economics.
Jerrod Keith
Technology Inventor & Research Consultant
Jerrod oversees product design, testing, and production, leveraging 15 years in photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) air-purification systems. He has improved the efficiency of Puraclenz’s proprietary PCO cell fifteen-fold, securing multiple patents and key trade secrets. Jerrod’s portfolio also spans STEM-curriculum products, fitness equipment, and adaptive-therapy devices. He earned a Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture from the University of Colorado, followed by an M.A. in Biblical Theology with a focus on cosmology from Western Theological Seminary.
1 In independent laboratory testing, the Photon purifier was 99.75% effective at reducing Candida albicans from surfaces and 95.1% effective at reducing Aspergillus brasiliensis in the air.
2 In independent laboratory testing, the Photon purifier was 99.4% effective at reducing MS2 bacteriophage virus in the air and 58% effective at reducing SARS-CoV-2 on surfaces.
3 In independent laboratory testing, the Photon purifier was 99.7% effective at reducing dangerous bacteria Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis in the air and 95% effective at reducing dangerous bacteria Staphylococcus aureus on surfaces.
